F3 Protec Clothing LLP  being member of Incubation centre at Ichalkaranji - DKTE Technology Business Incubator, have been closely working together to do various trials during the research have come up with proto type fabric sample which posses the standards to pass different test levels. Subsequently it has started bulk production of the products.

F3 Protec Clothing LLP is lead by 2 entrepreneurs as designated partners in the company. Prakash Lahoti is an MBA by education and is looking at strategic planning and marketing front for the product and Prashant Lahoti is a Master in Chemical Engineering who is looking at technical side of the product development.

We have mainly come up with following products to the market.

 

Our products are WASHABLE and REUSABLE and at the same time they meet AAMI PB70 standards at different Levels for water and fluid repellent. Most of the similar products in the markets fall in either of below 2 categories : They are reusable but are basic fabric and do not conform to above test standards They conform to above test standards but are single use disposable products.

To avoid the spread and interrupt the chain of infections, hygienic hands and clean surfaces are of paramount importance as they are key transmission routes for viruses. As studies have impressively documented, textiles that are in regular contact with hands have been proven to contribute to the spread of viruses (Sauver et al., 1998). In a scientific examination, clothes as well as domestic and hospital textiles in the form of bed linen, towels, kitchen towels and so on are, alongside hands, an important potential transmission route for viruses.

Reusable VS Disposable

Superior strength

Tensile strength testing confirms that the innovative high-tech fabric from which reusable products are made not only exceed the requirements but are also much stronger than disposables.

Lower linting

Particles are considered carriers of infective micro-organisms and a cause of foreign body reactions. In a hospital setting, it is important to limit release of these particles, also referred to as low linting, to ensure as sterile an environment as possible. Compared with disposables, reusable release significantly fewer particles, cutting the risk of infection.

Better homogeneity

Reusables also have superior performance in barrier protection over disposables. This is because disposables' resistance to liquid penetration performance (sometimes even within the same product) may vary, leading to equally varying degrees of performance in barrier protection. The homogeneity in the manufacture of reusables is therefore superior.

Reduced environmental impact

A Life Cycle Assessment was carried out by an independent consultant for five different types of surgical gowns.

The study assessed the environmental impact of the gowns based on energy consumption, global warming, acidification (of water and soil), eutrofication (nutrient discharges to water) and post-consumer waste.

The results showed that not only do reusable textiles outperform disposables, but that they have a distinctly lower impact on the environment.

Comfort and breathability

Comfort is not just a convenience but a physiological requirement. In an operating theater, the challenge is not only to keep anesthetized patients warm, but also to keep the surgical team cool so that they stay alert and efficient. As the human body maintains its temperature by vaporizing sweat, clothing should be breathable and its resistance to water vapor should be low. Scientific studies confirm that technologies available in reusable fabrics solve this problem.

Single-use laminates technology with films for disposables were shown to be unsuitable in this respect. They do not, or barely, allow vaporized sweat through and thus create an unacceptable burden for the surgical staff. In addition, design considerations and the flexibility of the materials used in reusable surgical gowns improve surgeons' ease of movement

Cost-benefit

The economic implications of choosing between reusables and disposables are very crystal clear. Higher the number of wash cycles that reusable can claim while still delivering within similar test standards, more economical it becomes in comparison to single use disposable.

Various comparisons show that reusables are at least 50 % less expensive than disposables.
